Case Fans: 4x Montech, 1x Noctua NF-A14 PWM

Case Fans (Side/Top/Rear/Bottom)

WHY WE CHOSE IT

"Two of the four Montech fans came with the case, the reverse-blade pair on the side. The top 120mm and the rear 140mm went in after. The Noctua is the one fan here bought for a specific position: 2.08 mm H2O of static pressure at 1500 RPM, 24.6 dB(A) at that speed and 19.2 dB(A) with the Low-Noise Adaptor in line."

Five fans, four Montech and one Noctua. The two bundled 120mm reverse-blade fans are the side intake. A Montech 120mm fills the third slot of the top run beside the radiator, a Montech 140mm handles rear exhaust, and a single Noctua NF-A14 PWM 140mm sits at the bottom.

Component Procurement & Testing FAQs

Crucial advice on buying used enthusiast PC hardware, silicon binning, and thermal maintenance.

Silicon degradation manifests as instability at stock or mild voltages. Test the CPU by running OCCT CPU / Linpack at stock voltage; if errors occur within 10 minutes, the silicon has experienced degradation.

For used graphics cards (especially OEM or previously mined units), check VRAM junction temperatures and inspect HWInfo64 for "PCIe Bus Errors" (WHEA 17/19).

Replacing dried thermal pads and applying PTM7950 to the GPU core restores used hardware to factory thermal performance.

Key Takeaway:

Always check WHEA errors in HWInfo64 and verify voltage stability on second-hand hardware.
